This Project is an app design for a company called EcoHome, which specializes in Smart Home features. • The key points on EcoHome are efficiency and conservation. EcoHome offers a feature that allows users to opt into automatic adjustments of their thermostat, water pressure and temperature, and lighting to help reduce unnecessary energy and water consumption. Along with this, the app will notify the user of excessive consumption based on the room. For example, if a light is left on for too long in an empty room, the app will notify the user. Another instance would be excessive water use. If there is running water in an empty room for too long the app will once again notify the user. Users can opt out of automatic adjustments and still receive notifications. The purpose of this is to help make the home eco-friendlier, but it also helps users save money on utilities and helps the house run efficiently.
My role in this project was UI designer. I sketched out wireframes, created an aesthetic color palette and began to build what the app would look like. I created high-fidelity prototypes of what the interface of this app would look like and what features it would have.
The challenge with this project was including all of the features offered without making the app seem overly complicated or overwhelming. Since there are so many features offered with this app, it was a challenge to make it easy to navigate without beeing too cluttered.
The purpose of this project was to create a central Smart Home hub or people to control all of their home's devices while also helping them to make their home eco-friendly by tracking energy usage and providing suggestions on how to lower the amount of energy use. The goal of this project was to create a product to help people conserve both energy and water in their homes. To do this, the EcoHome app notifies users of excessive water and electricity usage, including lights being left on in empty rooms and water leaks. The goal is to lower consumption without sacraficing comfort.
